Custom Control's programming department is that team. Our groups of programmers specialize in certain software and systems, but have a general knowledge of nearly all major platforms and utilities. Based on your requirements, you will be assigned a team of programmers representing those strengths. Our expansive knowledge base gives each of those programmers an entire technical support department they can rely on for things outside their specialty. We have programmed systems by working off sequence of operations, flowcharts, drawings, other written documents, and/or verbal descriptions. If you have a system that is defined to the smallest detail, we will program it to your specifications. However, if you have a system and a general idea of how it will work, we will work with you to develop those details and help you design the best possible system for your needs.
At the heart of most modern control systems is a controller of one type or another. PLC's have been, and continue to be, a predominant force in control systems. Custom Control has been programming PLC's since their mass market inception. As the power and complexity of these amazing devices have grown, so has our reliance on them to accomplish more and more. Our programmers know how to harness these advancements and use them to your project's benefit.
The advancement of PLC's has given rise to a new breed of controller called Automation Controllers. Able to perform functions not available in industrial controllers, like PLC's, just a decade ago, these systems require a whole new approach to traditional control system programming. Our programmers are able to implement projects using traditional PLC languages (such as ladder) as well as the advanced languages (such as function block, structured text, and sequential function charts).
By keeping in constant contact with manufacturers and vendors of the hardware and software, we stay on top of the latest offerings and programming/design methods. Human Machine Interface, or HMI, programming is the link between your operators and the control system. Also referred to as graphical programming, it is the portion of your system that will be seen most of the time. Therefore, it's critical to have a well designed and easy to navigate HMI program. However, it can also be used as a show piece for potential and existing clients and should be designed with that thought in mind. Conforming to your operators' needs and utilizing the design team's requirements in one interface package is both an art and a skill that is often approached haphazardly.You can entrust these tasks to Custom Control with a feeling of comfort.
Our graphical design teams have experience in the leading HMI software on the market today including: Invensys Wonderware and System Platform packages, Rockwell Software's FactoryTalk platform, iFix, and Genesis. However, we also have experience in legacy products such as FactoryLink, Rockwell Software's RSView, and many others.
The vast experience in all these packages allows us to offer services for converting or interfacing between multiple platforms as well. An OEM skid with a prepackaged HMI program that is not your site's standard could present issues for your maintenance and programming department. Many OEM's cannot, choose not to, or charge enormous fees to offer brand options on the HMI software. Custom Control can offer this conversion at a reasonable price after OEM installation.
We also have experience in converting HMI programs into information DCS companies can use to replicate those external systems into a plant wide control system. Our project list includes converting skids with RSView, FactoryTalk, and Wonderware HMI applications into Emerson Ovation and Westinghouse DCS systems.
There are often times when canned or shelf software just doesn't provide you with the tools you need to optimize your projects. Nobody wants to purchase software that doesn't do exactly what they need it to do. On the other hand, global software that may be required for a single function can prove to be so bulky it is difficult, if not impossible, for your site maintenance or programming department to troubleshoot and maintain. Custom Control can bridge that gap with custom written software developed for your unique needs. We offer options that allow you to maintain ownership of the source code or the executables, depending on your needs. Written to your specifications, the custom software will be coded, tested, and implemented using your input and feedback throughout the process.
